SuVolta Recognized as Winner of TiE50 Awards Program

LOS GATOS, Calif., May 16, 2014 – SuVolta, Inc., a developer of scalable semiconductor technologies for low-power, high-performance integrated circuits (ICs), today announced that it has been recognized as a TiE50 Awards Program winner. Each year, TiE Silicon Valley recognizes the 50 hottest tech start-ups from around the globe. SuVolta was recognized in the “Energy/Clean Tech” category for its low-power device technology for semiconductor ICs.

Deeply Depleted Channel™ (DDC) technology from SuVolta radically lowers power consumption in ICs without the need for new fabrication equipment or design infrastructure. Because SuVolta’s innovations remain compatible with existing fabrication and design technologies, DDC technology is perhaps the most cost-effective approach to improving semiconductor speed, power and cost.

“We are honored that SuVolta has been recognized by TiE for the impact we are making to reducing power consumption in the semiconductors that are enabling a connected world,” said Bruce McWilliams, SuVolta’s president and CEO. “This award further validates the excitement surrounding our technology and the benefits it can bring large markets such as DRAM, the Internet of Things (IoT) and mobile computing.”

The manufacturability of the DDC technology was proven in 2013 with the volume production of the MB86S22AA Milbeaut® image processor from Fujitsu Semiconductor Limited. In addition, SuVolta currently has technology development programs with top-tier DRAM and fabless semiconductor companies, from the most advanced nodes to the cost-effective mainstream nodes.

DDC technology enables 30 to 50 percent power consumption reduction in ICs, while maintaining operating speed (performance).  By reducing threshold voltage (VT) variability, DDC technology enables significant reduction of dynamic and leakage power of the IC core circuitry, including memory and logic blocks.

“In the six short years since inception, the TiE50 program has become a global brand that attracts thousands of companies worldwide for this recognition,” said Venktesh Shukla, president of TiE, Silicon Valley. “It is unique in terms of rigor of selection and the broad scope of companies that it reviews for this award and is one of TiE Silicon Valley’s most successful programs. It is also worth mentioning that this is the only awards recognition in technology to be held by a large global non-profit organization.”

TiE50 is TiE Silicon Valley’s premier annual awards program keenly contested by thousands of technology start-ups worldwide. Awards are announced at TiEcon, the world’s largest conference for entrepreneurs. TiE is a global, not-for-profit network of entrepreneurs and professionals dedicated to the advancement of entrepreneurship.
