FREMONT, Calif. – May 22, 2013 -- Quantenna Communications, Inc., the leader in ultra-reliable Wi-Fi networking for whole-home entertainment, has redefined wireless performance and quality once again with the first commercially-available 4x4 MU-MIMO 802.11ac chipset – the QSR1000 family. The only Wave 2 802.11ac chipset, Quantenna’s 1.7Gbps QSR1000 solution transmits faster, reaches farther and serves more devices more reliably than any other Wi-Fi solution ever created.
The QSR1000 supports the latest Wave 2 802.11ac specification. It combines Quantenna’s industry-first 4x4 architecture with multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology, dynamic-digital beamforming and support for four spatial streams to deliver unsurpassed performance, range, reliability and coverage. Equally at home in access points, set-top boxes and consumer electronics, the QSR1000 is ideally suited to multimedia applications that demand wire-like quality. With almost 2Gbps total throughput, it streams flawless, carrier-grade IPTV to multiple devices in full 1080p or 4K Ultra HD resolution, easily reaching through concrete walls and into every corner of multistory homes. Quantenna’s 4x4 solutions are fully industry-standard compliant and work with all third-party clients and consumer devices in any MIMO configuration (e.g. 1x1, 2x2, 3x3 or 4x4).
“Wave 2 is where the 802.11ac standard realizes its full potential,” said Craig Mathias, a Principal at the mobile and wireless advisory firm Farpoint Group. “Whether the goal is improved throughput, increased capacity, or the clear benefits of multi-user MIMO, Quantenna’s innovative QSR1000 leapfrogs the industry with features and performance that will become the new residential and corporate standard in Wi-Fi.”
“By the end of this year, 802.11ac Wi-Fi will be widely deployed in smartphones and tablets driving the need for Wave 2 to enable the most efficient use of the available spectrum,” said Dr. Sam Heidari, CEO of Quantenna. “In a real-world BYOD 802.11ac environment, Wave 2 Wi-Fi is not a convenience but a necessity.”
“Applications like wireless HDTV streaming need to work flawlessly. With the QSR1000, we’ve created the only Wi-Fi solution in the world that outperforms our groundbreaking 802.11n solution. In addition to our pioneering 4x4 MIMO and beamforming technology, it introduces multi-user MIMO and other Wave 2 enhancements. We have set a new bar for Wi-Fi innovation, generations ahead of any other available solution.”
Key features of Quantenna’s QSR1000 802.11ac chipset include:
Industry standard-based 802.11ac chipset capable of 1.7Gbps
Wave 2 support
Unmatched coverage
4x4 MIMO with 4 spatial streams
256QAM
MU-MIMO (Multi-User MIMO)
Industry-leading transmit beamforming
System on Chip (SOC) enabling full host CPU offload
Standards-based, interoperates with all third-party 802.11ac and 802.11n devices
Availability
The QSR1000 is sampling now, and reference designs are available as well. Major OEMs are already using the reference designs to develop access points, gateways and client consumer devices. Quantenna will offer live demos of the QSR1000 at Computex in Taiwan, June 4-8, and on the floor at The Cable Show in Washington D.C., June 10-12, booth #ES-48.
