CTC GLOBAL’s composite core and conductor patents upheld by U.S. Patent and Trademark Office

Irvine, Calif., May 7, 2012

CTC GLOBAL today announced that the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) has reexamined and upheld substantially all claims on three patents relating to its innovative composite core and conductor technology (U.S. patent numbers 7,368,162; 7,211,319; and 7,179,522).

The USPTO has now considered the validity of CTC GLOBAL’s patents on three occasions. After reviewing all of the submissions of potential prior art, a total of 175 claims across the three challenged patents were upheld or added as patentable.

This latest confirmation of CTC GLOBAL’s pioneering ACCC® composite conductor and core patents underscores the technology that CTC GLOBAL pioneered through 10 years of research and development and has proven in the field over the last eight years of commercial projects. As a result of this continual effort, CTC GLOBAL is the leader in composite-based conductor technology with 10 U.S. patents, 5 pending U.S. patent applications and over 200 international patents and patent applications. These patents cover many aspects of carbon fiber core composition, hybrid glass and carbon construction and composition, manufacturing processes and many performance criteria.

Jason Huang, CEO of CTC GLOBAL, stated, “We are fully committed to continuing to invest in technology innovation in overhead transmission, and increasing our intellectual property and patent rights throughout the world.  A growing number of licensed stranding partners offer customers multiple sources of our patented ACCC® conductor as alternatives to 100-year-old steel reinforced or supported conductor technology.”
